Summer loving
I wrote something about baseball and Love Island
I’m currently teaching a three week intensive class on writing about art and culture, so this newsletter and most other things have moved to the back burner. Eventually, I’ll be back here with something substantial, but until then, thanks to my summer colleague Joe Horton who runs the Dispatches from Raimondi website for the Oakland Ballers, I got to write the silliest pitch ever: in what way is baseball like Love Island? They’re both for romantics.
To his credit, Joe said “go for it.” So follow this link to read my first ever piece as the Love Island correspondent for the Oakland Ballers. There’s also a bit in there about the Enneagram, twerking, Pride and Prejudice, and Ariana Madix’s ability to walk in six inch heels. 18-year-old me who thought sports and TV were both for losers would be appalled by this turn of events, but let’s be honest: she was also kind of an asshole.
